The Bank Street Presbyterian Church, opened in 1868, was renamed Chalmers Presbyterian Church when it commenced services at a new Cooper Street church in 1914, having outgrown its previous location.

In 1961, Dominion United Church, located on Metcalfe Street, was completely destroyed by fire. Chalmers invited the Dominion church to join them instead of rebuilding. The next year, the official inauguration services were held to mark the founding of Dominion-Chalmers United Church.

Today, Dominion-Chalmers is a popular venue for music concerts, with line-ups around the block during the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival.
